BRIAN HILLMAN

CAREER SUMMARY

On completing his first degree in Law, Brian travelled and studied extensively outside of Australia.

Subsequent to his return to Australia Brian commenced work as corporate in house counsel in the areas of commercial and company law. These included negotiation of contracts, facilitation of international trade, areas of competition law, acquisition of businesses and property.

In private practice Brian has expanded these skills in various areas of business and commercial law in general, including all facets of drafting, advising on and enforcement of contracts, together with development of work international business activities and relations.

He has lectured in Business Methods and Commercial Law, and recently at the University of New South Wales in International Law.

Brian has developed an extensive practice in many areas of immigration law. He is also a registered migration agent (MARN 0100863).

PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

After his initial degree of LLB from the University of Sydney, Brian has acquired post graduate qualifications in Business Administration, International Law, and International Relations.

Brian is bilingual in English and French and working towards fluency in Spanish.

Brian was the President of the Alliance Française de Sydney for 13 years. In recognition of his contribution to the promotion of French language and culture, and relations between Australia and France, he has been awarded l'Ordre National du Mérite by the French Government.

Some of the organisations to which Brian regularly contributes his legal skills on a voluntary basis, are Amnesty International, Gay and Lesbian Immigration Taskforce, and Médecins sans Frontières.
